Using MRI to Improve Treatment Decisions for Liver Cancer
Project Summary
This project studies whether routine MRI scans can provide more information about liver cancer than is currently visible to the human eye. The research focuses on hepatocellular carcinoma and aims to predict how a tumour may respond to treatment, whether it may return, and which patients may need closer follow-up. The goal is to support doctors and multidisciplinary teams with reliable, non-invasive information so that treatment and follow-up can be better tailored to each patient.
Project Benefits
MRI scans contain more information than can be seen by the human eye alone. This project explores whether carefully analysing those scans can help doctors understand how a person’s liver cancer may behave and how it may respond to treatment. The long-term goal is to support more personalised treatment decisions and follow-up care for people with liver cancer.
